The first guestbook

The Magnetic Scrolls Memorial had a couple of different guestbooks over time and some of the external ones were lost when the service shut down. However the very first guestbook from the first two years in the existance of the Memorial was conserved and is presented here. All these visitors accompanied the Magnetic Scrolls Memorial from its very early stages.

Finding this site was very excitng to me. You have done an excellent job interpreting the essence, feel and depth of such historically significant games that a friend and I played enjoyed so much in the 80s. They etched a permanent "realm" of sorts in our mind and inspired much more. Thanks for keeping such treasures alive.

Super of you to make these games available. Though I played Infocom in the '80's, I never heard of these. (However, my college aged daughter, home for Christmas, walked by the computer screen last nite and said -- "Hey, I remember that game! You're a fish, right? We played it in our TAG class in 4th grade!")
Anyway, as a former librarian, I'm wondering whether there might be some way to make stuff like these games LEGALLY available on a loan basis, just like with library books? E.g., a user could "borrow" the file in order to play the game, just as with the millions of out of print books in a library, and then delete it when done? Maybe even the copyright holders might agree to this, if they could be found. Otherwise, due to the nature of ever changing technology, these games will die a sure death, especially since used copies of them appear to be very rare. From what little I've seen of these games, they should be preserved and enjoyed by reader/players, not just in non-usable archives!
